Ready for adventure, 2024

Journalist, travel writer and self-appointed “Midlife Joy Guide,” I share stories and ideas to help women 50+ spark more joy

About Me

I’m a longtime journalist, travel writer and, more recently, “Midlife Joy Guide” — a fun title I gave myself to reflect a passion for encouraging women 50+ to say yes to what lights them up. That focus grew during my midlife journey as I discovered countless stories of women redefining this chapter in so many joyful ways!

My own storytelling roots go back to my childhood, growing up amid an island of storytellers in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. In university, I chose journalism, which led to a career as a newspaper reporter in Halifax and Montreal. A move to British Columbia brought two new joys: the arrival of my second daughter and the start of my travel writing career.

In the 25 years since, Moncton, New Brunswick, has become my home base and launchpad for travel features across Canada and beyond. My work has appeared in publications including Lonely Planet, The Toronto Star, JourneyWoman, Explore, Saltscapes and The Boston Globe. (See Portfolio for more.)

In my blog, Midlife Report, I’ll bring you stories about women embracing joyful living in all sorts of ways along with my own joy-boosting adventures — from rejuvenating wellness retreats and girlfriend getaways to simple daily rituals.

Here’s to exploring new ideas, sharing stories, and thriving in midlife and beyond — together!
